Gurugedara

Our flagship education project “Gurugedara” initiated with the intention of building up interaction between the local school children and foreign interns within the school environment, providing the students a considerable enhancement in English skills is carried out throughout the year.

We expanded our reach to schools in Kurunegala District within the first quarter in this year marking another milestone in terms of our impact and reach. It was often heard that not only the students benefited immensely, but also the teachers were motivated to deliver more within the novel atmosphere created by the foreign undergraduates. This project gave the interns the opportunity to take the first step towards living an impactful life through this unique experience.

e-Gurugedara

e-Gurugedara was another socially impactful project by AIESEC Colombo South to enhance IT literacy among school children in rural areas of the country. The main objective was to provide them a unique learning experience in a novel atmosphere created by foreign interns.

This organization of more than 80,000 employees and volunteers across over 113 countries is unique in showcasing a model of developing the kind of leadership open and democratic workplaces aim to create.

Their model allows the young people that are running AIESEC to have a voice in the decision making for the organisation's direction and also create a format where the selection of leadership is decentralized and entrusted to the membership.
