Though local school English educational curriculum consists with various
activities and other exercises, in terms of English speaking fluency, many local
students are not up to the expected level. Creating an English speaking
environment within local school classrooms should be accompanied with soft
skills, personal skills and communication skills development since they are
essential to build up the confidence among school population.
Under EYE, (English for Young
Enthusiasts) AIESEC Colombo South mainly addressed the above objectives with
7 foreign Exchange Participants representing China and Bahrain, using a
curriculum designed by local universities. Under the designed session series, around 1000 school children in Kalutara District were directly approached
and were benefited in three schools.
1. Panadura Balika Maha Vidyalaya
2. Mahanama Vidyalaya
3. St. Anthonies College
Due to this positive impact, AIESEC
Colombo South was requested to carry out further steps of the project in
coming future.
