e-Gurugedara


     e-Gurugedara was another socially impactful project by AIESEC Colombo South to enhance IT literacy among school children in rural areas of the country. The main objective was to provide them a unique learning experience in a novel atmosphere created by foreign interns.

The project e-Gurugedara had a positive impact on around 8 schools located in different cities such as Anuradhapura, Badulla, Mahiyanganaya and Gamapha namely,

  • ·         Henpitagedara Gnanaseeha Primary School
  • ·         Kehelalla Ranasinghe Primary School
  • ·         Ananda Kanishta Vidyalaya,Marandagahamula
  • ·         Delwagura Maliyadewa Kanishta Vidyalaya
  • ·         Diriyagama Vidyalaya , Mahiyanganaya
  • ·         Dharmadutha College

with the participation of undergraduates from China, Germany, The Netherlands, Taiwan, and Brazil during which they conducted lessons for IT and English in schools for six weeks’ time period.

Engaging students in different activities enhanced their language skills and communication skills while the Interns lived a lifetime experience involving in this service during their stay. This is one of our highly successful projects, proved though achieving not only a wider reach and but also a deeper impact.

AIESEC Colombo South was recognized as the best!!!


Maintaining the everlasting glory, AIESEC Colombo South was awarded as the best Local Committee in Sri Lanka for the second consecutive year at the "National Leadership Development Seminar - 2012" awarding ceremony. Colombo South won 6 out of 11 awards.

We represent AIESEC Colombo South, the best local chapter in Sri Lanka. Since then, Colombo South has been contributing to the vision of AIESEC, enabling youth to actively get involved in global issues through the platform provided through AIESEC. Today, AIESEC Colombo South consists of talented youth from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology(SLIIT) and University of Rajarata.

FUEGOSTICKA


Today, Gaming plays a significant role in the computer industry and is developing its demand day by day. "Fuegosticka" was an opportunity for youth to get a flavor of advanced computer games and be knowledgeable on latest technologies that are being used all over the world.

Approximately, 100 local technical undergraduates, in groups of five members, were the target crowd. Delegates were trained on newest game development platforms, how to pitch an idea and how to market the final product by the industry experts. According to that, groups were asked to develop their own mobile game application and finally the best application was selected and presented to the industry.

15 interns from 5 different countries, Egypt, India, Brazil, Hong Kong and China acted as mentors and followed up on the group's progress in order to assist them in enhancing their development and marketing skills. Furthermore, having foreign interns throughout the event added the colours of universal harmony while being an effort to expose Sri Lankan youth to the international community.

Team HaliBorange :winners of Fuegosticka 2013


 Fuegosticka was a concept instigated by a set of dynamic AIESECers who took the challenge to alter the normality’s of the ‘Global Community Development Program’ of AIESEC. Since the initiation, in spite of numerous difficulties it turned out to be a life changing experience for all the Delegates, OC members and the interns who participated at this Android Gaming Development competition.
 Fifteen AIESEC exchange participants from five different countries volunteered in this project as mentors for the teams .This made a novel experience for all the delegates who participated in the competition. Delegates were trained on newest game development platforms, how to pitch an idea, how to market the final product and various other things related to gaming development.
Seven teams competed in the final battle which was one thrilling encounter given that all of them had exceedingly innovative products to showcase at the arena in the assessment of the veteran judge panel representing IDM, Dialog, GTS technologies and eGlobe Solutions.

After a hardly fought battle the team HaliBorange clinched the title as the winners of Fuegosticka 2013 and walked away with heavy cash prizes from Dialog and gaming equipment from e Globe solutions. “Hostage Rescue “is the title of the game which was invented by the winning team which inspired the audience high time.
It was an epic closure to the Fuegosticka first edition amidst the fascinating presentations and the exciting cultural events one by the interns.
Keep fingers crossed till the next edition Fuegosticka 2014 which is going to be even a greater success.
